In this talk Margaux Warne will explore Charlotte Brontë’s visit to the Foundling Hospital in January 1853.

She will examine the portrayals of orphans, foundlings and motherless children in Brontë’s novels, while also considering aspects of the author’s own childhood.

Warne is a freelance Art Historian based in France. She studied Art History at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, and was a volunteer at the Foundling Museum from 2014 – 2016. Her research focuses on 18th and 19th-century English art and literature.
