The installation of the Anne Stone is a complex project involving a heritage site, and despite the best efforts of all at the Festival and the Bronte Parsonage Museum, this has unfortunately resulted in delays to the siting of the stone.  
 
It is with regret that we have therefore made the decision to postpone the launch of the Anne Stone and the associated event with Jackie Kay and Samira Ahmed in Haworth until later in the year.   
 
If you have bought a ticket to this event, you will be contacted by Bradford Literature Festival box office shortly. The Bronte Stones: Meet the Writers launch event on Saturday 7 July, at the Midland Hotel, will go ahead as planned with Carol Ann Duffy, Jackie Kay and Jeanette Winterson in attendance.
 



 
We are delighted to welcome Jackie Kay back to Haworth, to celebrate the unveiling of her work commemorating Anne Brontë, specially commissioned by Bradford Literature Festival, as part of the Brontë Stones project. The event will begin with Jackie reading her work in Parson’s Field behind the Parsonage, where the Anne Stone  is sited. Afterwards in the Old School Room Jackie and journalist and broadcaster Samira Ahmed will explore the inspiration for Jackie’s work, her affinity with Anne Brontë, and what participating in this iconic project means to her. 

Jackie Kay MBE is the current Scottish poet laureate. She has published five poetry collections for adults and several for children, as well as fiction books. Jackie was Writer in Residence at the Bronte Pasonage Museum in 2013. Among other prizes, she has won the Somerset Maugham Award, the Guardian Fiction Prize, and in 2016 was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.

Journalist and broadcaster Samira Ahmed presents Front Row on Radio 4 and Newswatch on BBC1 and is a visiting professor of Journalism at Kingston University. She’s made a special Front Row about the Brontes on location in Haworth. Her documentaries and articles often explore her fascination with the crossover of culture, politics and social change, particularly through women in the Victorian and Edwardian eras. Her radio documentaries include The Fundamentalist Queen about the wife of Oliver Cromwell, John Ruskin’s Eurhythmic Girls, Laura Ingall’s America and HG Wells and the H Bomb. She’s currently working on a Radio 3 Sunday Feature about on the Victorian northern mill town heiresses who worked in archaeology and founded some of the great Egyptology museums. She read English at St Edmund Hall, Oxford where she wrote her undergraduate thesis on the portrayal of property and marriage in Anne Bronte’s The Tenant of Wildfell Hall.
