"There was no possibility of visiting the Parsonage that day. So, Reader, we met on Zoom.”
2020 was meant to be the final year in the bicentenary celebrations dedicated to the much loved Brontë family, a crowning culmination to a five-year programme led by the Brontë Parsonage Museum and the Brontë Society. Unfortunately, not only have the planned celebrations for Anne2020 been postponed to 2021 due to COVID-19 but the Brontë Parsonage has been significantly impacted by the global pandemic. The Museum has been closed since March, many of the wonderful staff have been furloughed, and plans for emergency funding have had to be put in place. For fans and scholars world-wide this means one thing: the Brontë’s family home and a cherished literary institution is at risk.
To support to the Parsonage, and to bring together Brontë scholars and enthusiasts, Brontë2020, a virtual one-day event, will take place on Friday 4th September via Zoom. This event has been initiated independently of the Brontë Parsonage Museum by Dr Claire O’Callaghan and Dr Sarah Fanning, but is run with their support. All proceeds will go directly to the
Brontë Parsonage Museum’s Covid-19 Appeal.
9.30am - 8.30pm UK time (GMT+1) Tickets cost £35 salaried and £25 non-salaried/retired.
NB If you are a presenter or a speaker, please indicate this in the comments field at the check out. Also, if you are booking on behalf of someone else, please add their name and contact email address in the same place. Thank you.
