Brontë Festival of Women’s Writing 2022
Sandra Gilbert and Susan Gubar: Madwoman at the Festival.
Part of the Bronte Festival of Women's Writing.
Charlotte Bronte’s ‘Jane Eyre’ has sparked feminist debate since its release 175 years ago. Susan Gubar and Sandra Gilbert, authors of ‘Madwoman In the Attic’ and new release ‘Still Mad’, examine Victorian literature through a feminist lens. Join them to analyse the representation of Jane, Bertha and other female characters since the 1800s.
Feminist literary critic Susan Gubar is
delighted to be working on a book about creative old ladies. and Sandra Gilbert is excited to be working on a book about lonely poets. Sandra and Susan defy expectations by still collaborating on projects together 40 years after the release of ‘Madwoman in the Attic’.
