Brontë Festival of Women’s Writing 2022

Sarah-Joy Ford: Banner Making with the Bronte Sisters- Make Your Own Feminist Banner. Part of the Bronte Festival of Women's Writing.

This craft workshop will be inspired by the Brontë sisters’ challenges to patriarchy. We will explore both the pen and the needle as tools in the fight for women’s rights.  Join Sarah-Joy in creating your own miniature feminist banner, using quotes, images, and patterns from the Brontë Parsonage Museum. Create a flag that expresses your identity, merge museum objects and personal stories, and express yourself.

Sarah-Joy Ford is an artist and researcher who works with textiles to explore queer communities, histories and archives. Her work defies expectations by subverting traditional ideas about quilting and through the exploration of queer history.
