This exhibition explores the relationship the Brontës had with animals and how this is reflected in their works.

The Brontë novels are full of cameo appearances from man’s best friend, from Pilot in Jane Eyre to Snap in Agnes Grey.

The Brontë children were hugely influenced by the presence of their pets when growing up and many of their creative works were inspired by them, from their early drawings to their later writing.

Often, the Brontës had a tendency to assess people’s characters by the way they treated animals.

Free with admission to the Parsonage.
