Family Activities for School Holidays

The Museum is bustling during the school holidays and visitors can enjoy a range of activities for all the family. Have a go at our Easter trail, raid our dressing up box, or get your hands on some history!

Easter Holiday Walks, 2pm
Every day during the Easter holidays, visitors will have the opportunity to join us on a short walk discovering Penistone Hill, a part of the Brontës’ beloved moorland landscape and just ten minutes’ walk from the Parsonage. As well as admiring the amazing views, we will take a look at the natural and industrial history of this environment and share insights into its inspirational role in the Brontës’ writing.
Please note: sturdy shoes required. This is not a long walk (approx. 90 minutes) and there are plenty of stops along the way, but it is probably a little strenuous for most children under six years old.

Wild Wednesday! Extraordinary Eggs: 4 April, 11am-4pm
Join us for our Easter-themed ‘drop in’ workshop. Easter eggs aren’t just made of chocolate! Using different dyes and techniques, make a lovely colourful egg to take home with you.

Wild Wednesday! Marvellous Maps: 11 April, 11am-4pm
The Brontës loved to create their own maps. It was part of the way they told the stories of their imaginary worlds and they had great fun inventing places and making up names. One of Branwell’s was called Sneaky’s Land! Come and design your own secret map to take home with you, but don’t show anyone where you’ve put the treasure…
