Part of the 2019 Brontë Festival of Women's Writing

Zena Barrie & Jo Howard present an evening of women’s working-class stories and poetry, featuring a line-up of some of their favourite voices from their time running Verbose in Manchester. (Voted Best Spoken Word night in the UK 2018 at the Saboteur Awards).

Jo is a poet, singer, storyteller, and scriptwriter. Her work is inspired by experiences growing up in Lancashire and living in Manchester. Zena is a writer and festival producer. Her debut novel will be published next year
.

Zena and Jo have been friends for over 25 years and started writing together when they were still teenagers (they might treat you to some of these gems).

Their spoken word nights are warm, relaxed, funny and inclusive affairs. Spoken word for people who don’t usually enjoy spoken word.

Event included in Festival Weekend Pass.
