Poor Anne. The overlooked one. Sweet, meek, pious, unrequited Anne. Countless misconceptions have grown up around the Brontë family as a whole over the last 200 years, but few myths are more frustrating than the one which reduces Anne Brontë to ‘the other Brontë sister’.

Join Adelle Hay for an exclusive after hours event in our research library on just how remarkable Anne Brontë really was, exploring her keen social conscience, her passion for equal education and the fierce integrity with which she wrote.

Adelle Hay is a writer, academic and former bookbinder currently focussing her research on a project exploring textual criticism of Anne Brontë’s work. Her book, Anne Brontë Reimagined, was released in January 2020 by Saraband Books.

Tickets £22.50/£20 concessions. Places are limited, so early booking is advised. Please book in advance using this page or call 01535 640192.

Attendees are invited to join us from 7pm for a complimentary drink.
