A music installation of six new piano pieces by Ailís Ní Ríain

Linger

We are delighted to present Linger, a music installation comprising a set of six new piano pieces composed for and performed on Emily Brontë's piano by Irish contemporary classical composer Ailís Ní Ríain, who lives near Haworth.  Each composition reflects the essence of the room it is heard in.  Visitors to the museum are invited to dwell in quiet contemplation and thought; to linger.

These new pieces of work are between three and five minutes in duration and are composed especially to 'lock into each other' when heard at a distance. In essence, Ailís has composed six intertwining, contrapuntal voices which are separated into six rooms of the Parsonage. Elements of each piece will drift out of each room forming a sonorous space all of its own on and around the stairwell.

There will be an opportunity to hear Ailís play Emily's piano in Mr Brontë's study as part of Museums at Night on Friday 30 October - click here to find out more.
