
We’re closing out the festival with the special opportunity to hear from Brontë Society Trustees and representatives from Arvon and the Women’s Prize for Playwriting about their work championing women’s writing.
Join host Helen Meller (Vice Chair of The Brontë Society and Co-Director of Lumb Bank and Arvon at Home) as she chats with Chair of The Brontë Society Lucy Powrie (Real When I’m With You), Trustee Ellie Keel (The Four), Trustee Penny Batchelor (The Woman Next Door) and Rozie Kelly (Kingfisher) from Arvon.

Lucy Powrie is an author and award-winning book influencer with over two million views on her YouTube channel, lucythereader. A Brontë fan through and through, she is Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Brontë Society. Her latest book, Real When I'm With You, is a YA romance featuring neurodivergent characters.
Ellie Keel is an Olivier Award-nominated theatre producer, the youngest ever winner of The Stage’s Producer of the Year Award (in 2024), and the Founder & Director of the Women’s Prize for Playwriting and Ellie Keel Productions. She is the author of the Sunday Times bestselling novel The Four.
Amazon-bestselling author Penny Batchelor is the author of four psychological thrillers, including her latest, The Woman Next Door. She is a co-founder and judge of the ADCI Literary Prize for adult fiction by a disabled/chronically ill novelist, the Crime Writers' Association's West Midlands Ambassador for National Crime Reading Month, and a columnist for The Bookseller magazine. She has been a trustee of the Brontë Society since 2020.
Rozie Kelly is a prose writer based in West Yorkshire. After reading English Literature and Creative Writing she moved to Hebden Bridge, where she works for the Arvon Foundation, hosting creative writing courses. She was shortlisted for the PFD Queer Fiction Prize 2023 and she won the 2024 NorthBound Book Award for Kingfisher, her debut novel. Kingfisher, 2025, is published by Saraband press, based in Salford.
