
Join best-selling local author, Linda Green (The Woman with All the Answers), as she chats to Sairish Hussain (Hidden Fires), Colette Snowden (Captain Jesus) and Rozie Kelly (Kingfisher) about their novels and experiences being Northern women writers.
Sairish Hussain is a Bradford based author. Her debut novel, The Family Tree, was published by HarperCollins and shortlisted for the Costa First Novel Award, the Portico Prize and The Diverse Book Awards. Her second novel, Hidden Fires, was published in 2024.
Colette Snowden is a writer based in Manchester. She won a Commonword first three chapters competition in 2009 and the completed manuscript became The Secret to Not Drowning, published in 2015 by Bluemoose Books, based in Hebden Bridge. Colette’s second novel, Captain Jesus, was published in 2021, and her third, Celeste will be published in September 2025.
Rozie Kelly is a prose writer based in West Yorkshire. After reading English Literature and Creative Writing she moved to Hebden Bridge, where she works for the Arvon Foundation, hosting creative writing courses. She was shortlisted for the PFD Queer Fiction Prize 2023 and she won the 2024 NorthBound Book Award for Kingfisher, her debut novel. Kingfisher, 2025, is published bySaraband press, based in Salford.
