Learning Officer
Job Description
Are you motivated, creative and looking for a new challenge? A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Brontë Parsonage Museum as our Learning Officer.
Haworth Parsonage is the former home of the Brontë family and the place where the world-famous novels Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall were written. As the Brontë Parsonage Museum, it houses the world’s largest collection of Brontë artefacts and welcomes over 70,000 visitors of all ages and backgrounds from all over the world each year. We are proud to be an Arts Council National Portfolio Organisation and one of the top must-see destinations in Yorkshire.
Young people and children are a key focus of our museum offer. Our well-established learning programme has been awarded the Sandford Award by the Heritage Education Trust and is praised by teachers. We experience a high demand for school visits across the year, engaging almost 4000 pupils and students through our 2025-26 programme of workshop and talks. During the holidays, our Learning Officer works with artists to present a series of creative workshops for families and devises trails and other activities to engage and stimulate our younger visitors. Reporting to the Director, the postholder will be responsible for developing and delivering Brontë-inspired talks and workshops for schools and other groups, ensuring their alignment with the curriculum and excellence. The Learning Officer will also work closely with colleagues to remove barriers to access and develop opportunities for creative engagement.
It’s an exciting time to join the Brontë Society as we prepare to celebrate the Museum’s centenary in 2028. The successful candidate will benefit from the opportunity to work in a vibrant and iconic heritage setting with 38 days holiday per year; free membership of the Brontë Society and the Museums Association; 20% discount in the museum shop and a monthly wellbeing hour.
This role is based at the Brontë Parsonage Museum in Haworth, West Yorkshire, and is not suitable for remote working.
