Join us for a day of poetry in Haworth, inspired by Yorkshire people, places and landscape. We’ll hear from both established and new poets from across the region, as they share their work and creative processes. Look out for former Brontë Writers in Residence and gain insight from professionals in the world of poetry publishing.

Carcanet Press started life in 1969. It has become a literary publisher with a world-class list of modern and classic poetry and related titles in English and translation. Based in Manchester, UK, Carcanet publishes three dozen titles a year, and six issues of the bi-monthly journal PN Review. In 2019, our 50th anniversary, they were named Northern Small Press of the Year in the British Book Awards. Writers we published who became Nobel laureates include Orhan Pamuk, Octavio Paz, José Saramago, Joseph Brodsky, Czeslaw Milosz and Louise Glück (Turkey, Mexico, Portugal, Russia, Poland and USA respectively).

Young Poet Laureate- In 2023 the National Literary Trust partnered with the Mayor of West Yorkshire Tracy Brabin and National Poet Laureate Simon Armitage to inspire the next generation of young poets in West Yorkshire. We are joined by one of 2025’s young poet laureates.
